Flamenco

Flamenco is a passionate style of music and dance from the south of Spain. It brings together three elements: singing, guitar playing, and dancing. The dancer stamps the floor with quick, sharp steps, while the hands move slowly through the air. The clapping and shouts of encouragement from the audience push the performers on. Flamenco is not planned in advance like a school play; much of it is created in the moment, so no two performances are ever the same. The music can express deep sadness one minute and wild joy the next. For many families, these skills are passed down from parents to children.
