The Woman Who Cleaned the Beach

For most of her life, Maria walked along the same beach every morning. A few years ago, she noticed that there was more and more plastic on the sand. Instead of feeling angry, she decided to act. Each day she brought a bag and picked up whatever rubbish she could find. At first, people thought it was strange, but slowly her neighbours began to join her. Today, dozens of volunteers meet on the beach every weekend, and the water is cleaner than it has been in years.
