The Stargazer

As a child, Nadia spent every clear night on the roof of her family's house, staring at the stars. While other children dreamed of toys, she dreamed of distant planets. Her parents were poor and could not buy her a telescope, so she built one herself from old glass and a metal tube. Years later, Nadia became one of the first female astronomers at the national observatory. At that time, many people believed science was not a proper career for a woman. Some of her colleagues refused to take her seriously. Instead of arguing, Nadia simply worked harder than everyone else. Night after night, she recorded the movements of the sky in careful notebooks. Eventually, she discovered a small comet that no one had noticed before. The discovery made her famous, and it opened the doors of the observatory to other young women. Nadia often told her students that curiosity was more valuable than talent. 'Anyone can learn the facts,' she said. 'But the person who keeps asking questions is the one who changes the world.'
